Each evening, residents enjoy a restaurant-style selection: five entrées, two soups, two appetizers, five salads, and four desserts — all made from scratch.
“We’re always creating something new,” said Chef David. “Some residents treat food as entertainment and enjoy exploring different cuisines. Others want simple healthy options that are their comfort food. Our job is to make sure every menu has something that excites them.”
Residents Help Shape the Menu
At The Glenview, luxury dining is also personal.
Through the community’s Food Committee, residents share feedback, ideas, and requests directly with Chef David each month — and he moves quickly to bring those ideas to life.
“I’ll develop a new recipe to meet a resident request and try to have it on the menu within a day or two,” said Chef David. “Their input helps me keep our menus fresh and dynamic.”
Desserts Worth Saving Room For
Of course, no fine dining experience is complete without dessert.
Pastry Chef Ashley Yedeski, who has been with The Glenview for 15 years, creates sweet endings residents rave about — from elegant tiramisu to homemade pies to rich, fudgy brownies.
“Ashley’s desserts are legendary,” said Chef David. “They are as beautiful as they are delicious and always make the meal memorable.”
Special Events That Feel Like Celebrations
Beyond nightly dinners and daily á la carte lunches, Chef David and his team also design spectacular culinary experiences for community celebrations, private resident events, and themed holiday menus.
At the recent Glenview Community Anniversary Celebration, more than 200 residents and staff, enjoyed a lavish buffet featuring roast tenderloin, fresh shrimp, and a beautiful array of sides.
“Special events allow us to spotlight the amazing creativity of our culinary team,” said Chef David. “It’s restaurant-level cooking on a big stage.”
Chef David also works directly with residents to cater private celebrations. “If a resident wants to host a special dinner or celebrate a family event, we’re happy to make that happen,” he said.
A Chef Who Loves Sharing His Craft
Chef David also brings residents behind the scenes of luxury dining through monthly cooking demonstrations that blend culinary education with delicious tastings.
At one recent session, Chef David guided residents through the flavors of four different shrimp varieties — from rock shrimp to Key West pink shrimp — sending everyone home with a mason jar of pickled shrimp to sample.
Another demo explored how to prepare — and properly enjoy — a stuffed fresh artichoke. “Food should be fun,” said Chef David. “Tasting new foods piques curiosity, sparks conversation, and brings such joy to the day. Cooking demos are a big favorite here.”

Residents are always encouraged to bring guests to the dining room. One enthusiastic resident invites friends four nights a week to share The Glenview luxury dining experience. “Her husband was food critic for The Detroit Free Press,” said Chef David. “When she tells people the food here is outstanding, that’s the best complement our culinary team could receive.”
