Finding Freedom, Friendship, and Fun: Lynn Nolan’s Glenview Story
For Lynn Nolan, moving to The Glenview at Pelican Bay wasn’t just a change of address — it was the realization of a long-held dream. “I’ve lived in Pelican Bay for 25 years,” Lynn said. “So, when I moved to The Glenview a year and a half ago, it already felt like home.”
Originally from Britain, Lynn has spent the last 50 years building a life in Southwest Florida. Today, she describes The Glenview as her ‘ideal and perfect retirement place’. “What I love most is the freedom we have here,” Lynn said. “The people are wonderful, there’s always something happening, and we have the best food!”
An active and engaged resident, Lynn serves as Chair of The Glenview’s Lifestyle Committee, helping organize the vibrant calendar of events that residents enjoy throughout the year. “We have concerts, lectures, parties, bridge, mahjongg — there’s always something going on,” said Lynn. “I love being involved in creating experiences that bring people together.”
One of her favorite aspects of life at The Glenview is its unmatched location within Pelican Bay. “We’re literally steps from the beach,” said Lynn. “We can hop on the Pelican Bay tram right outside the gate, ride down to one of the beach restaurants, watch the sunset, and then come back home. We don’t even have to drive. It’s wonderful.”
Lynn also appreciates a feature that makes The Glenview unique among many retirement communities. “One of the biggest advantages is that residents own their own homes,” said Lynn. “You build equity, and because we’re a cooperative, residents have a voice in how the community is run. That sense of ownership really matters.”
For Lynn, The Glenview’s welcoming atmosphere is another reason the community stands out. “Some places feel very modern and impersonal,” said Lynn. “The Glenview feels comfortable and lived-in. It’s cozy. It has history. It feels like a real community.”
When she’s not planning resident events, Lynn stays active with cardio classes, yoga, meditation, reading, and tennis. “The cardio class is my favorite,” said Lynn. “We dance, we sing, and we have so much fun together. It’s the perfect way to start the day.”
Looking back on her move, Lynn couldn’t be happier with her decision. “For me, this is the perfect retirement lifestyle — beautiful surroundings, wonderful friends, endless opportunities to stay active, and the freedom to enjoy life exactly the way I want.”
