Glenview Residents Join Meals of Hope to Help Fight Hunger in Southwest Florida
Giving back to the greater Naples community is an important part of life at The Glenview at Pelican Bay. Recently, residents and team members came together with Meals of Hope for an afternoon of service, helping prepare food that will support individuals and families throughout Southwest Florida.
During the August 24th event, Glenview residents packed 1,150 pounds of potatoes and 300 pounds of carrots for distribution through Meals of Hope, the Naples-based nonprofit that operates a network of food pantries throughout Collier and Lee counties.
The partnership has a special connection to The Glenview. Resident Christine Popper first shared the idea that eventually inspired her son, Stephen Popper, to establish Meals of Hope in 2007.
“I am so grateful for The Glenview at Pelican Bay and how they readily embrace helping the community,” Christine shared.
The Glenview has become a regular packing partner of Meals of Hope, giving residents opportunities to come together while supporting neighbors throughout the region.
“We feel it is important to support our community in every way,” said Daniel Gomez, Executive Director of The Glenview. “We are so proud to have Mrs. Popper among our residents and it has become something our residents and staff look forward to helping with.”
The recent event was also featured by the Naples Daily News, which explored the growing challenge of food insecurity among older adults in Collier County and the work Meals of Hope is doing to meet that need.
