Security, Convenience, and True Ownership: Bob MacMinn’s Glenview Story

As we celebrate Independence Day and our nation’s 250th anniversary, The Glenview is proud to spotlight Bob MacMinn, a proud Marine Corp veteran. Bob’s enthusiasm to give back to his country reflects the spirit of service that has shaped generations of Americans.

Bob MacMinn has spent a lifetime making thoughtful decisions. Raised in Oklahoma, he earned his accounting degree from the University of Oklahoma before serving as a Lieutenant in the Marine Corps through the Platoon Leaders Class program. After marrying his wife, Pat, and beginning their married life at Camp Lejeune, Bob went on to build a successful 35-year career with Armstrong World Industries (formerly Armstrong Cork Company) in Lancaster, PA. Together, he and Pat raised two daughters and now enjoy three grandchildren.

Their path to Naples began after retirement. “We came to Florida to visit our daughter in Key West, and started exploring,” said Bob. “That’s when we discovered Naples.”

After years as snowbirds. Bob and Pat became full-time Naples residents in 2004. When it came time to consider senior living, they approached the decision carefully. “We evaluated six different communities,” said Bob. “For us, the non-negotiables were Security, Convenience, Quality, and Equity.”

The Glenview checked every box.

“We feel a real sense of security here,” Bob said. “Because The Glenview is a LifeCare Community, we know we’ll never have to move again.”

Convenience was another deciding factor. “Everything is in one building,” Bob said. “Dining, fitness, activities — you never have to go outside in bad weather.”

Bob also appreciates the quality of life residents enjoy. “The food is excellent, the staff is very responsive, and there’s always something interesting to do,” he said.

For Bob, what truly set The Glenview apart from other communities was its unique ownership model. “The Glenview is the one community where you own your apartment home,” said Bob. “That was a big plus for us. Ownership versus renting is a very important distinction.”

Bob also values the maintenance-free lifestyle. “If something needs attention, you make one phone call,” he said. “No contractors. No repair bills. They’ll even come change a light bulb.”

For Bob, The Glenview offers confidence in the future. “We did our homework,” he said. “This community is filled with wonderful people. We couldn’t be happier with our decision.”
